Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Public Works Division is partnering with the Fort Wayne Public Art Commission to select a sculptural artist to install public art at the center of the Five Points intersection at Goshen Avenue and Sherman Boulevard.

This is a gateway piece which will complement the City’s recently completed Phase I of the Goshen Avenue reconstruction and modernization project. The work included a conversion of the Five Points intersection, landscaping, improved drainage, new street lights and signalized intersection improvements, and the repair of existing sidewalks and curb ramps. New sidewalks were added in areas that were not previously connected. The first phase of the project was completed in October 2020.

The Fort Wayne Public Art Commission is seeking public input from people who reside in the Five Points and Lincoln Park neighborhoods on what they would like to see expressed in the new installation. Neighborhood residents have two opportunities to participate, including a community meeting which will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 18 at Northside Missionary Church, 736 Lillian Ave., and an online survey.

The goal is to have an initial concept of what the installation will look like in June. Once the concept is approved, the artist will begin fabrication this summer with completion expected in early 2022.
