Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division today announced that beginning Monday, December 16, the northbound lane of Harrison Street between Berry and Main Streets will be closed to accommodate construction on the Urban Trail Extension Project.

This closure is necessary to remove parking on the east side of Harrison Street and construct an 8-foot-wide brick trail alongside a 6-foot-wide concrete sidewalk. The project also includes upgraded ADA ramps, improved stormwater structures, landscaping, and new street lighting. Crosby Excavating is managing this estimated $1.2 million project, which is expected to be completed by October 2025.

During this phase, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and exercise caution in the area. A detour will be in place to redirect traffic.

The Urban Trail is a ten-foot-wide multiuse pathway that will connect key destinations throughout downtown Fort Wayne including Electric Works, Parkview Field, and Promenade Park upon full buildout.
