Registration is now open for the 2019 Fair Housing Summit, which features Kevin Boyle, the author of Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights, and Murder in the Jazz Age.

The Summit is hosted by the City of Fort Wayne’s Metropolitan Human Relations Commission and Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services and is set for April 18, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Summit, 1025 W. Rudisill Blvd. Breakfast and lunch is provided and there is no charge for the event.

In addition to Kevin Boyle, attendees will have the chance to hear from fair housing experts during various workshops. The topics of these workshops include:
• Fair Housing Disability Case Law Update;
• National Origin Based Housing Discrimination;
• Public Policy: The Duty to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing;
• Panel Discussion: Issues Surrounding Chronic Evictions in Fort Wayne;
• LGBTQ Housing Rights; and
• Public Policy: Discrimination in Zoning.

According to Northwestern University’s website, Kevin Boyle is the William Smith Mason Professor of American History at Northwestern University and has a particular interest in modern American social movements. His publications include The UAW and the Heyday of American Liberalism, 1945-1968; Muddy Boots and Ragged Aprons: Images of Working-Class Detroit, 1900-1930 (with Victoria Getis); Organized Labor and American Politics, 1894-1994; and Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights and Murder in the Jazz Age, which received the National Book Award for nonfiction.
