Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne today announced history was made when St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter was opened. The shelter addresses a key service gap because it is the first 24/7/365 emergency shelter that exclusively serves single women who are experiencing homelessness.

The City of Fort Wayne today celebrated this milestone at St. Joseph Missions Women’s Shelter, 3505 Lake Avenue with a special ceremony.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division today announced that the application process for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) will close December 12. The program was established with federal funding to assist those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic by temporarily assisting with rent and utility bills. At this time, the City has committed all available program funding.

The Fort Wayne Public Art Commission, Faces of the Fort Selection Committee are seeking the submission of potential building facades for phase two of the Faces of the Fort Mural Project.

Faces of the Fort is a public art initiative designed to share the faces and stories of the community through large-scale murals strategically located across Fort Wayne. The project seeks to elevate civil rights and social justice stories of community residents; past and present, showcasing their stories and ideas for a more equitable and inclusive future.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Beechwood Historic District is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the nation’s official list of properties considered worthy of preservation. The district is located primarily in the Creighton-Home Neighborhood, but it also crosses to the east side of Fairfield Avenue to include small portions of the Williams Woodland Park Neighborhood and the Fairfield Neighborhood.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Mayor Tom Henry joined by the Director of Community Development Nancy Townsend, developer Barrett & Stokely and other city leaders held a “Topping Off” ceremony for The Riverfront at Promenade Park mixed-use project, which is located on the northeast corner of Superior Street and Harrison Street. The topping off ceremony is to celebrate the placement of the final beam upon the structure, which is a milestone in its construction.
