October 19, 2022 – The Fort Wayne Public Art Commission, city officials and Nebraska Neighborhood leaders held a dedication ceremony for a mural at 1804 W. Main St.

The Nebraska Neighborhood mural is on the east façade of 1804 W. Main St. This piece was designed to embody and celebrate the Nebraska Neighborhood’s rich history. Themes incorporated into the work include Kekionga Baseball team, The Wayne Knitting Mills, Camp Allen, Jaenicke Gardens, and Swinney Park. The muralist was chosen through an open call for artists.

October 18, 2022 - The City of Fort Wayne’s Public Works Division and Fort Wayne Public Art Commission today commemorated the new “5 Point Spin” public art sculpture located at the center of the Five Points roundabout at Goshen Avenue and Sherman Boulevard.

The “5 Point Spin” sculpture, designed by artist Susan Zoccola, is a wheel-inspired sculptural “tree” that stands 24-feet tall and 21-feet wide. The sculpture includes three 12-foot branches that contain 15 spoke wheels reminiscent of automobile wheels from the early 1900s. The wheels are brightly colored and of varying sizes. The largest wheels are 6-feet in diameter.

October 10, 2022 - The Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services will begin accepting applications for the City of Fort Wayne’s Residential Accessibility Modifications Program on October 11. This program offers qualified households a grant to make accessibility improvements to their homes.

Qualified applicants must have a household that includes a person with a permanent disability, must own their home, it must be their primary residence, and the home must be located within City of Fort Wayne limits. Applicants must also have a household income at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income.

October 6, 2022 - Led by the Fort Wayne Public Arts Commission, Mayor Tom Henry and city officials held a dedication ceremony for a new Faces of the Fort mural.

The mural, located on the east façade of the building at 520 West Jefferson Blvd., depicts local community advocates Ephraim Scott Smiley III and Omowalé-Kétu Oladuwa. The mural subjects were selected as hometown heroes for their commitment to positively impacting the lives of young people in our community. The mural artist is Michael Johnson (DJPupLuv•theARTIST).

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Mayor Tom Henry today joined the City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division and members of the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for ABF Freight System’s new $4.8 million facility.

ABF’s new location is at 4877 Adams Center Rd. The 27,600-square-foot trucking terminal is the new hub for ABF Freight System, a freight company specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) services. The LTL method combines several separate shipments into a single truck, providing a cost-effective option for small businesses, e-commerce companies, and even families moving into new homes.
