Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission today approved an economic development agreement for Phase I of a multi-phase mixed-use project called Village Premier in southeast Fort Wayne. The $55 million development will transform more than 20 acres of vacant, City of Fort Wayne-owned land located near the intersection of South Anthony Boulevard and McKinnie Avenue into a vibrant, walkable neighborhood.  

Phase I includes more than 200 units of income-based housing and at least nine units of market rate for-sale single family homes at an estimated investment of almost $40 million.  Future phases will include senior housing along with commercial/ retail space, daycare, health clinic, additional for-sale single family housing, and other public amenities.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry today joined the City of Fort Wayne’s Community Development Division and community and neighborhood leaders to highlight plans for continued development and investment along the riverfront.

Phase II of Riverfront Public Space will continue Fort Wayne’s proactive efforts to revitalize its central riverfront by extending the public space from Promenade Park along the St. Marys River west to Ewing Street and east to Clinton Street. The expanded public space will feature an extension of the elevated Tree Canopy Trail, boat docks for private watercraft, universally-accessible bouldering mound, hammock grove, walking trails and landscaping.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The City of Fort Wayne’s Neighborhood Planning and Activation Workgroup invites neighborhood association presidents to attend the upcoming Neighborhood Presidents Meeting on Monday, June 6th at 6:00 p.m. at Citizens Square in the City Council Chambers. For those who cannot attend in person, the meeting will be broadcast live on Fort Wayne Neighborhoods Facebook page.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – As part of the vision to create a dynamic riverfront transformation, the Fort Wayne City Council approved an agreement with P-Americas, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc, (Pepsi) to acquire its 6.4 acres located in the heart of the Riverfront area.

The acquisition of the 6.4 acres, which includes the distribution facility, located at 1207 N. Harrison St., will be for $4.5 million. The Redevelopment Commission’s vision for the property is utilize it to attract new private investments that will bring additional revenue to the city, providing a more compatible use to the adjacent neighborhoods and public investment in the Riverfront public space areas.

Fort Wayne, Ind.- The Fort Wayne Public Art Commission will be hosting an artist talk regarding the Pillars of Hope and Justice Monument in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The event will be held on Thursday, June 9th at 6:00 p.m. in Overlook Hall at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art located at 311 E. Main Street. 

The talk will feature one of the artists, Shane Allbritton of RE:site, along with team member Caitlin Dashiell. The RE:site team will share inspiration for the design and information on fabrication. It will be held in conjunction with the Museum’s Second Thursday Event which begins at 5:00 p.m.
