New Information About Blight Elimination Program
The City of Fort Wayne Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services is currently developing a strategy for properties acquired through the Blight Elimination Program. Once the strategy and process is developed, we will provide information to residents and interested parties through the media, social media (@CityofFortWayne), on our website (www.FWCommunityDevelopment.org) and in our newsletter (available by joining our mailing list on the website).
Who We Are
Our mission is to make Fort Wayne the most livable city in the nation by working with community partners to build strong neighborhoods & improve quality of life through the strategic investment of public resources.
What We Do
The Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services (“OHNS”) works to attract and support housing investment and reinvestment in the City and expand access to safe, decent, affordable housing through a holistic approach, called Placemaking. OHNS administers the City's entitlement programs, including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESG); each is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
This department also administers other non-entitlement grants and programs, such as Neighborhood Stabilization Program, Neighborhood Stabilization Program 3 and Lead Hazard Reduction Program. Additionally, OHNS operates several housing and neighborhood development programs: Homeowner Repair, Homebuyer Education, Down Payment Assistance, Rental Rehab and Ready to Rent (rental housing assistance).
