Fort Wayne, Ind. –Johnnie Mae Farm, located in the Renaissance Pointe Neighborhood at 2518 Winter St., is offering free tours of the urban farm and historic Firehouse #9 in celebration of the Local Food Week by Northeast Indiana Local Food Network.

Join Johnnie Mae Farm for a family-friendly tour that will stretch your understanding of growing food, showcase the beautifully remodeled historic Firehouse #9, and include samples of pedal-powered green smoothies. Johnnie Mae Farm grows vegetables, fruits, and herbs on-site for the residents of Renaissance Pointe and surrounding neighborhoods. We offer seasonal produce that may include fresh herbs, collards, kale, beets, summer squash, zucchini, okra and green tomatoes. Cash and SNAP are accepted.

Operation of the Johnnie Mae Farm is a partnership between the City of Fort Wayne’s Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services and the Purdue Extension - Allen County office. In 2015, the Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services completed the historic renovation of former fire station #9 and equipped it with a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen.
