The City’s Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services (OHNS) has completed another rehab of a previously neglected and vacant West Central home. The completely remodeled 815 W. Jefferson Blvd. property is one of six homes purchased by the City because they needed such extensive rehabilitation that they were not marketable. All of the homes either have been or will be remodeled and offered for purchase to moderate- to middle-income residents.

The addresses of the homes are: 1302 W. Jefferson Blvd., 1111 W. Jefferson Blvd., 815 W. Jefferson Blvd., 1025 Wilt St., 1222 Jackson St. and 1121 Fulton St. A recent housing market potential study indicated an unmet demand for home ownership opportunities in the historic West Central neighborhood adjacent to downtown. The City’s efforts will help fill this demand and stabilize property values.

Preston Allen Homes did the custom remodel and Belay Corporation was the developer for the 815 W. Jefferson home. The buyer is a young professional interested in living in the downtown area. The home was brought up to modern building codes including insulation, 95% efficient HVAC system, modern electrical service, new foundation, structural enhancements, a new sewer line, a new lead-free water line, a new roof, additional living space and new exterior paint. All this was done while maintaining the historical integrity of the building's exterior.
