In order to help preserve the City's existing housing stock, the City of Fort Wayne periodically operates Home Repair programs. The programs provide forgivable or low-interest loans and technical assistance to qualified homeowners for home improvements projects, such as installing new windows or a new furnace.
No homeowner repair program is open at this time. Please continue to check this site and local media for information about the next program.
The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is the primary funder of all Homeowner Repair programs operated by the City of Fort Wayne Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services (OHNS). HUD has delayed approval of Annual Action Plans for communities across the United States thereby delaying the release of funds for programming. OHNS expects to update the website with relevant information about any programs to be offered in 2014 as soon as HUD issues its approval of the City’s Annual Action Plan and releases funding.
In the meantime, OHNS will continue to seek out other agencies and institutions that offer similar types of Homeowner Repair Programs. OHNS will post any information obtained from other agencies and institutions pertaining to Homeowner Repair type programs including how prospective applicants can access them.
